A Healthier Version of You.

Easy recipes to help You!

The scripture that keeps coming to my mind is “Love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5 NIV As Christians, the first thing we give to the Lord is our heart or spirit. That happens when we ask Christ into our life. Next is our soul, which I connect with our personality, our subconscious, and conscious mind. That develops from birth, partially from all we experience.  Next is our strength, which I connect with our body. We are spirit, have a soul and live in a body. Keeping our bodies strong. How do we do that? Through what we put in our spirit, soul, and body…positive emotions, whole food & clean pure water.   Everything we do is based on our emotions, including what we eat, drink and buy.  A good percentage of our bodies are made up of water and we operate best on whole foods. We won’t have strong bodies or clear minds if we fill our mouths with junk food and sweetened drinks.   As Christians, this is the last and hardest part to give to God. Each Sunday morning is served in our church, coffee, powdered coffee creamer, and donuts. This saddens me.  Is coffee healthy?  That continues to be debated. Now it is labeled in California as causing cancer. It has been proven that powdered coffee creamer can be used to start a campfire. Donuts are loaded with hydrogenated fats, white sugar, and bleached white flour. White sugar is what I (un)affectionately call “legal cocaine”. Nicole Avena, a neuroscientist at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, has shown that rats will keep gobbling sugar if you let them, and they develop tolerance, craving, and withdrawal, just as they do when they get hooked on cocaine. She says high-fat foods and highly processed foods such as refined flour may be as problematic as sugar. Avena and researchers at the University of Michigan recently surveyed 384 adults: Ninety-two percent reported a persistent desire to eat certain foods and repeated unsuccessful attempts to stop, two hallmarks of addiction. The respondents ranked pizza-typically made with white-flour crust and topped with sugar-laden tomato sauce, as the most addictive food, with chips and chocolate tied for second place. Avena has no doubt food addiction is real. That’s a major reason why people struggle with obesity. This article is from National Geographic, September 2017. Yes, it is hard, BUT it can be done with Christ and having a desire to live a healthier lifestyle. I have a PASSION to help you in that direction, contact me. YOU can do this, with Christ’s help. “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV. I tell myself that several times a day. My emotions, how my mind feels about everything, will be affected by what kind of food I put into my body, how much water I drink, how much exercise I get, how much sleep I get. Even the time I spend in prayer and meditation effects me. We won’t do well with a negative attitude, spiritually or physically. Our body systems are all connected. If I fill my body with junk, junk comes out. If I fill my body with good, good comes out.

We, my husband & I, have good eating habits, for the most part, but there is room for improvement. Two of our three meals a day are healthy. We have worked on making the 3rd meal healthier. We raise all our vegetables and freeze and can them. I just need to prepare for one more meal a day. That’s it. We choose to cook to have leftovers so we don’t have to cook multiple times a day. TRUE CONFESSION>>> I say this to myself… Yes, but it is so easy to eat organic tortilla chips, grass-fed sharp cheddar cheese, and homemade salsa for one meal a day. Organic junk food is still junk food… Not that this is the worst thing to eat but not for a meal daily.  We feel better eating a wide range of colorful vegetables and are healthier…especially if part of them are raw.

One of our favorites is making our own homemade pizza with Einkorn flour crust and using our own organically grown vegetables on it. I am sharing the recipe for free.

This is just the beginning of the recipes I’m looking forward to sharing with you. Changes don’t have to be GIANT leaps and bounds. They can be one step at a time. How can I help you, contact me?
